The ATA is a member of the AALAS Site Selection Committee. The ATA is invited to all AALAS Board of Trustee meetings and sits on the fledgling AALAS Exhibitor Advisory Committee. Arizona Branch of American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS)

Just as there are many types of lab animals, there is a great diversity of people whose work involves animal care and use, including: the scientist who designs and conducts research, the veterinarian who supervises the care of animals, the animal caretaker or technician who monitors the animals while providing daily care, the representatives of a company that sells products or services used in lab animals. Metropolitan New York Branch of American Association for Laboratory Animal Science
(MNYB-AALAS)

At the 1958 meeting in Chicago, Dr. Christensen submitted a proposal as well as an application complete with a constitution and bylaws for the New York Metropolitan Branch. Both were approved and New York Metropolitan Branch Animal Care Panel (NYMBACP) was in business. (Credit is due to the American Association for Microbiology, whose branch bylaws served as a model for ours.) Let it be noted, during this transitory time another organization was coming about: The Animal Associated of Laboratory Science and the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care, or “AAALAC”.
